Focus on five states in the review meeting

Prime Minister Modi on Saturday held a review meeting with senior administrative and health officials, including the home minister and health minister. "Two-thirds of the total cases we see are from five states, especially in the big cities," the PMO said in a statement. Given the challenges of working with the top of the daily cases, there was a discussion on optimizing testing as well as optimizing the number of beds and services. The Prime Minister continued to note the need for hospitals and isolation beds by city and district. He has directed the Ministries of Health in the States and Union Territories to work together for emergency planning.

The Prime Minister will hold discussions with the states for two days

The Prime Minister will hold talks with the States and Union Territories on June 16-17 after taking inputs from his colleagues. It is not possible to give time to 29 states and 7 union territories simultaneously, so they are divided into two groups. PM Modi may hold talks with the states on his preparations and further strategy at the meeting to be held through video conferencing. A separate plan will be prepared for the 5 states that have been identified. A separate briefing may be held for them at this meeting.

The meeting will take feedback from the states on the Unlock 1 guidelines. One point cases may also rise. Corona's cases have increased since the lockdown was lifted. Some states have increased austerity. The rest of the states may also seek such directions from the Center. Rail services have not been fully restored, except for the Metro. If you decide to move on to Unlock-2, then these services can be started.
